Carrot’s

A selection of food shots was the menu for today starting with a new carrot recepie. The idea of the shots was to get close in to the main ingredient. The shots are to be used on a new range of healthy lifestyle products which will be out soon.

D.J. Ben Cauldwell

A shoot today with D.J. Ben Cauldwell to promote his up and coming events and new cd cover. Rather than the usual DJ behind the decks shot we decided to shoot outside and give it a urban cityscape look.

Martha Collison

A great couple of days working with Great British Bake Off contestant Martha Collison. We travelled to Leeds, Hull and Sunderland as Martha judged cakes that has been bakes by call centre staff in each location. The winners were given a signed copy of Marthas new book and invited to have a day baking with Martha in her kitchen. The images were used in local and national press.

LOL it’s Jason Cook !

Well this took some time to organize !. I was asked to take photographs of local comedian and actor Jason Cook. The idea was to have him on Newcastle’s quayside sitting in some letters with the Millennium Bridge lit up green in the background to promote his up and coming gig. I needed to use lights outside and the Pitcher and Piano pub kindly allowed me to run a few extension leads from their building. Coco Lumiere supplied the LOL letters and Newcastle Council kindly turned the bridge green for the evening. Even the local car-parking people gave me a few free passes for the quayside. The images were used in the press, online, twitter, facebook and posters.

Back at the Angel

The following day I was passing the Angel again and although it was a brighter day it was very windy. I stopped to take a photograph but I wanted to show the clouds moving quickly overhead. I used a shutter speed of 10 seconds, which allowed movement in the sky and gives a surreal look.

Bluebird at the Angel

As Bluebird Care opens in the North East I was asked to take a business style portrait one of the directors at the Angel of the North.  The photograph will be used in local and national publications to promote the new service. Although it was a bit of a dull day, lights were used to give the photograph a lift and make the subject really stand out from the background.

Down On The Farm

An interesting day today as I was taking photographs of farmer Alan Dent and veterinary Lee-Anne Oliver as she was checking cattle on a farm in Northumberland. The cattle are very well looked after and the farm very clean although it did pong a bit. In the cattle sheds I needed to use lights but running cables along the ground was out of the question. I used my Boncolor Mobil kit, which is quite powerful and runs off battery packs. The images were used in a booklet promoting good heath in cattle.

Go Mo

Mo Farrah won the Great North Run this year in a time of 1:00:04.The Great North Run sees thousands of runners take on the half marathon challenge every year. Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne the 13.1 mile course is lined with supporters all the way from the iconic Tyne Bridge, right out towards the coast in South Shields.  Since 1981 the world’s greatest half marathon has welcomed over one million people across the finish line in South Shields. I’ve been at the finishing line for the last 8 years, but I’ve never than there, (too much gear to carry!).

5K Charity Run

Around a 110 Npower employees ran 5K in aid of Macmillan cancer support. The race was started by Sunderland heros Dick Malone and Jimmy Montgomery. The fun run is part of the £203 challenge, where all Npower employees are challenged throughout the year to raise £203 – enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for a day. I took photographs at the start, during an at the finish of the run for press release.

On The Busses

This was a really nice job to do, Green Mountain Travel supply luxury executive coach travel around the UK and Europe. To show off these fantastic vehicles I was asked to find locations around the North East and capture a library of images for future advertising and brochures.
